Throw
Folded neat and tidy, ready and raring to fly off to it's new owner.
Question: should I wash it first? It's not "dirty", but it may have picked up some dust while it was being worked on. However, it may pill if I wash it... and I'd sort of like the recipient to receive it in it's "pristine, unspoiled" state. What do you do?

Disclaimer: I'm anal. I normally give my afghans a quick rinse on gentle in cold water; unless they've somehow gotten soiled I don't use a full wash cycle and use no soap or at most a little Woolite or Dreft if I have it. I tumble them on low heat long enough to get most of the moisture out, spread a sheet over the clothesline in the backyard (or flat on the ground before I had a nice triple clothesline that I could use) and lay the afghan on it to finish drying in the sun and fresh air. Side effect of this method is it lets me block the afghan a bit so that everything is straight and perfect, more important on those with lacy edgings and such :) plus that fresh air and sunshine smell is a wonderful bonus. I have pets and not everyone who receives an afghan from me does, so I'm a little more careful than I would be otherwise. Honestly if you don't have pets (or both you and the recipient have pets) and the afghan didn't get soiled, I wouldn't worry about it. Just my $.02!!
No smoking, pets, or clotheslines here. ;)
