Fun To Be Me

swollen eyelids
swollen eyelids

Does anyone have any ideas why my eyelids puff up like this at night? They don't itch... they just get all puffy. They didn't used to do this, but now they do all the time. The swelling goes down shortly after I get up.

Ugh.

Only thing I can suggest is maybe it's leftover from the offgassing of that lounger you had that you got rid of. Didn't this start the same time you acquired the lounger? Were there any other changes in your environment that occured at or near the same time?

At any rate, that doesn't look comfortable. I hope it goes away soon.

It's not really all that uncomfortable, mostly annoying. I think my eyes are tearing from the flash, too, in this photo, which makes it look worse. (It took me a couple of photos to get one where you could see the swelling.) It's a strange sort of swelling... usually swollen things are firm from the pressure, but my eyelids sort of feel like a fluffy pillow, or something.

It's possibly from the lounger, but that should have dissipated by now, I would have thought. I've been having a bit of trouble with them all term, but they got much worse when the lounger arrived. Other possibilities include those antibiotics for my zits (I started taking them in January... we'll see if the swelling stops now that I've stopped taking them), and my new mattress could possibly have some fumes too.

It's just strange that there's no itching (which I normally have with allergies), and it only happens while I'm asleep, and clears up almost immediately after I get up. The "only while I'm sleeping" thing seems to point a finger at the mattress, but the lack of itching seems to say that's not the case. Plus the fact that it started before I got my new mattress.

I'm confused.

I'm allergic too, in temperament and I don't even know what I'm reacting to most of the time. I wake up with swollen eyes, but they don't subside as soon as I get up, maybe a little bit later. I used to think it is because of sleeping with the doors closed when we have the air conditioning on, but *shrug* it could be anything, really.

Hi Misfit... you could also be reacting to dust in the bedding. Do you have a dust-barrier mattress cover, and wash all your bedding every week? That might help.
