Why?

Why is it that I can sleep perfectly well on my thermarest on my office floor, but couldn't sleep in my bed last night? I finally gave up trying around 5am, and went to sleep on the couch. That worked rather better. Why?

And, of course, now I'm not terribly well rested for today, even though I went to bed earlier than usual last night. *sigh*

(originally commented via my lj, then realized you'd probably never see the comment that way. Oops.)

Is it time to get a new mattress?

I know...you're getting close to graduating and would feel kinda silly and non-frugal buying a new mattress to use for only a few months. However, it might be worth it if it would help you sleep better, and you could probably sell it for most of what you paid for it if it's that new when you move. And it may be worth it just from a "quality of sleep" standpoint. *shrug*

Sorry you're having trouble sleeping.

Interesting... I didn't realize you could comment via your lj.

I've thought about getting a new mattress... I'm really tempted. I had almost convinced myself I should, and then my parents spoke with the voice of reason, reminding me I'd be home soon.

It's funny, because there isn't really anything *wrong* with my mattress... it isn't sagging or anything. If anything is sagging, it's the couch. Why then is my couch more comfortable? It's even a bit too short!

I think that last night my problems were partially psychological... I wrote an e-mail to a friend back home, and I was worried how she would read one thing I said. Between my worrying and my mattress, it was just enough to keep me tossing and turning all night. Turning the radio on didn't help, but moving to the couch did. Go figure. ;)

Thanks. :)

Sometimes you just need a change. I've had it happen to me. Sometimes i sleep with my head at the other end, just for a change. Also, do you do other things in your bedroom besides sleep? like watch TV, read, write letters, studdy, etc?? Cuz sometimes your mind thinks it is still doing stuff in that room and you can't fall asleep.

Insomnia is tough. I've been battling it my whole life. Sometimes NOT fighting it is the best thing, Get up, do something for half an hour as if you were awake, and then try going back to bed.

Good luck! :)

Actually, I'm pretty good about not doing other stuff in my bedroom now that I have a spare room. The only thing I do in my bedroom besides sleep is fold my laundry, and occasionally read before bed.

I tried getting up and checking my mail to see if she had replied, but there was nothing in my inbox. I tried using the radio to distract me.

Thanks for the advice, though.

I think I'll look into getting a foam mattress topper... apparently it's against the law to sell a used mattress in this state... unless you pay to have it professionally sterilized. I can imagine what that would cost. ;)

I have some stuff I can take to help me sleep, but I'm pretty sure that's what was making me feel like a zombie last term. And the point at which I realize I can't sleep is the middle of the night... at which point there isn't another 8 hours before I have to get up... so taking a sleep aid isn't a good idea anyway.

Fortunately, no one came after me for selling mine. Or is this a new law?

I doubt it's a new law, but I also doubt they have inspectors going around checking all the yard sales and stuff. ;)

You're repeating yourself, my dear. Or is that just blogger hiccoughing again today?
