Sophie, Crochet and Knit

Hmmm... one of these things is not like the other. They're similar, however. I meant to write up the instructions for Deneen, but ended up working on crayons all night. (Soon Deneen!)

I always wonder with knitting and crochet... how different does something have to be for it to be your own pattern?

it looks like the crochet one didn't full as much... did you use different yarn? (I can't remember) ... in fulling they do full slightly differently, but they should basically full the same amount (unless the crochet was tighter)

I did use different yarn. For the knit version, I used lovely wool yarn from Yarn Warehouse. For the crochet version, I used Cascade 220 Quatro.

I thought of running the crochet version through a few more washes, but it's really shrunk a lot horizontally, and not much vertically. I don't want it to get too narrow. I think the problem is that crochet shrinks different amounts vertically and horizontally, and I forgot to take that into account.

I may change my mind and run it through a few more times to hide the stitches. It will make a good alternate sock project bag. ;)
