Oooo... this method of dying roving looks like it has no chance of felting your fiber!

I might have to give this a try... considering it is still 100 degrees out :-P
i've done it before, and it's fun. you can do one color, or paint your roving, wrap it in plastic, and put it in a clear container in the sun. glass works best because it tends to concentrate the heat. i love it!
