This brings back memories. Back when I was in high school, the cheerleaders in my school were petitioning for larger uniforms. Gee... you don't want to wear itty bitty sweaters? I wonder why not. :P In NC, most schools have pretty strict dress codes... I wonder what their cheerleading outfits look like... and whether hypocracy is strong. ;)
HEY, HEY! HO, HO! SEXY CHEERLEADING HAS GOT TO GO!
Legislators from the state that produced the scantily clad Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders have passed a bill prohibiting sexually suggestive cheering routines in schools.

Good thing our government protects us from those hazardous tree houses, though:

At my school, the cheerleaders' uniforms, which they wore to school on game days, had skirts that were much too short. It always irritated those of us who weren't cheerleaders, as the skirts weren't as long as our shorts had to be.
At the same time, it is NOT the government's place to be regulating cheerleader uniforms!!! Or, rather, it is the school board's place, though I suppose school boards are local government. I guess what I should say is that it is not the place of the state legislature to be passing bills regarding school cheerleaders. If the parents at the schools have a problem with it, let them push for a change.
I don't really have a strong opinion on whether it's the government's place to regulate uniforms... but the administration at my high school never listened to the students, so that would probably the only way to get things done. :P
However, I think the NC schools are being rather over-stuffy when it comes to dress codes, especially given the heat down here. Give the students some credit for being sensible, and then speak to those who aren't. Skip the stupid announcements about dress code in the morning.
Of course, I remember a similar stuffiness about hats at my schools... :P
