In the news...

Although it has history, it's not a history that should be "glamourized", which I think this auction does:

D'ARCY MCGEE ASSASSIN'S GUN FOR SALE
The gun used to kill Thomas D'Arcy McGee in 1868 is to be sold at auction this month in Hamilton, Ont.

Given the number of marriages that end in divorce, do you really think you should go ahead with this one? She's got to be a bit unbalanced. *Eight* wedding showers?!? Then again, maybe the whole family is unbalanced:

JILTED GROOM STILL WANTS TO MARRY FLIGHTY BRIDE
The jilted groom whose bride-to-be ran away four days before their wedding said he still intends to marry her.

Beauty pagents are screwed up, no matter how hard you try to pretend they're not:

SUPERSIZE THAT CROWN, PLEASE
A 242-pound Thai student will spend the next year promoting elephant conservation after being crowned Miss Jumbo Queen in a pageant designed to celebrate the glories of larger women.

This is disturbing:

STUDY SHEDS LIGHT ON TEEN SEX

(Rant warning.) I'm not really all that surprised that the rate is higher in the US... it seems there's a lot more teen sex on TV down here... and not a lot of those TV teens realizing it's wrong. I'm not saying teens are idiots, and "monkey see monkey do," but if teens are constantly given the message that teen sex is okay, normal, and "all the cool kids are doing it"... well, duh! I also don't recommend going all hell-bent religious abstinence on them either... that may just make them want to rebel more. Just have a good strong talk about responsibility, appropriateness, and consequences... and, if you're going to be stupid enough to have teen sex, wear a condom! Don't let peer pressure make you do something stupid. You may think your friends will think you're a dork, but just think about how much of a dork you'll feel like if you get pregnant, or get an STD. Sheesh. Rant over.

Another cool Canadian invention:

CARPENTER TURNED INVENTOR MAKES SAFER SCALPEL
A small Canadian company has switched from selling to carpenters to supplying hundreds of U.S. hospitals with safer scalpels.

Ewwwwww!!!!:

MAN FINDS SURPRISE IN FROZEN CUSTARD
A man in North Carolina took a mouthful of frozen chocolate custard and found himself sucking on a piece of someone's finger.
