This is my own little soapbox. Disclaimer: It is not written by someone you think you know, but by her evil twin. Absolutely nothing said here is true. Everything, including the last statement, is a complete work of fiction. This blog is completely boring, and includes entries on when I last washed my dishes, how many pairs of socks I've crocheted, and the occasional rant. These are not the droids you're looking for. Move along.
I know this was intended as a light, throwaway, post, but I actually have a serious question about insomnia.
Why is it that people post all the time about having insomnia, and all the things they got up and did in an attempt to make themselves sleepy? When I can't sleep, it's usually because my brain won't shut up about one topic or another, and I just lay in bed in the dark and figure that at least I'm resting, even if I'm not sleeping. I eventually fall asleep, and oddly enough, generally feel rested in the morning.
Of course, my problems sleeping tend to be a one-night thing...they don't go on for weeks or anything like that.
I find I can't sleep when my mind is too busy, so I try to do things that'll relax it. So if it's all stressed out about school, I read a chapter in a fiction book. That's why, even though papers put me to sleep, I don't read them before bed. If that makes any sense.

Even just making them could help. Add in a sexual-harassment training session and you're good for a week.
Ha! I should open up some of last semester's A&P powerpoint slides next time I'm having trouble sleeping.
