This is my own little soapbox. Disclaimer: It is not written by someone you think you know, but by her evil twin. Absolutely nothing said here is true. Everything, including the last statement, is a complete work of fiction. This blog is completely boring, and includes entries on when I last washed my dishes, how many pairs of socks I've crocheted, and the occasional rant. These are not the droids you're looking for. Move along.

Hand Sanitizers
Ha! I *knew* hand sanitizers weren't as good as soap and water. CBC article.
Hon I hate to tell you but this study proves nothing about hand sanitizers versus washing. They didn't test the effects of hand wasching at all. So sorry but I think you may be a little premature here.
That was my thought, too. It shows that hand sanitizers as actually used by middle school kids is not as effective as it is in manufacturer tests.
And to be fair, the manufacturers never claim it's a substitute for handwashing. It's like the dishwasher at my church... it doesn't wash hands, it only sanitizes them. So if there's food and grease on the hands after eating, it only makes it somewhat more sanitary grease. :-)
But, it doesn't compare it to handwashing as the typical middle schooler does it, which I guarantee is not as effective as the "official" handwashing sing-Happy-Birthday-twice and use-paper-towel-to-turn-off-tap and open door routine. :-)

Can I be silly and point out that "washing" doesn't have a "c" in it? (Feeling German?) ;)
Snort :-)

The manufacturers don't, but it seems some people do. :P
Until a surgeon thinks mere hand sanitizer is enough for pre-op, I will continue to wash my hands.

Your WV gave me a good chuckle!
