Emerald shiners sculptures

Adorable, and so realistic looking! I shall hug them and squeeze them and call them George! (Did I ever tell you the sad story about the very first fish I caught? It was too small to eat, but I was a little kid, and I loved it to death. Literally. I am now older, wiser, more practical... and less fond of fish slime.)

Thanks for blogging my fish, they were a lot of fun to make.

Here is some more info (I hope you don't mind):

These are emerald shiners, realistically correct, made from silver lame fabrci and plastic food containers for the transparent fins.

The eyes are made from silver chocolate wrapping for the sclera and bicycle innertube rubber for the pupils, held together with globs of transparent plastic glue to give it dimension and a glossy, wet eye look.

These fish were crafted for Fishnet: The Great Lakes Craft and Release Project
www.projectfishnet.org/news, a show at Harbourfront Centre, Toronto.

Many more photos of fish being made can be seen on the Flickr stream: Project FishNet

I don't mind at all. :) I read all that on the photo's page, but it's probably good to have here too for people who don't click through. :)
