This is my own little soapbox. Disclaimer: It is not written by someone you think you know, but by her evil twin. Absolutely nothing said here is true. Everything, including the last statement, is a complete work of fiction. This blog is completely boring, and includes entries on when I last washed my dishes, how many pairs of socks I've crocheted, and the occasional rant. These are not the droids you're looking for. Move along.

Wyvern Socks
Wyvern Socks
Yay! Socks! My first knit pair. :) (Yes, I'm leaving the holes... they aren't big, and this way I'll have them as a reminder. Besides... it's my first pair... it shouldn't be perfect!)
Here's another view from the top:
The colour is a bit washed out because the flash decided to go off.
For future reference, I used a cast-off from The Girl From Auntie on the first sock, and from Grumperina on the second. I think I might like the Grumperina one slightly better, but the difference isn't all that noticable.

Looking good! What do you think the main difference in the cast-off is? I can't tell from the photos, but I will admit that I haven't visited your links yet...
Great socks! congrats on finishing them! The second one was much faster for you than the first, eh!
for toe-up socks, I've tried about 6 different methods now (heh) and my new favorite is one similar to (but perhaps not exactly the same as) both of those bind offs. I've also tried EZ's sewn bind-off (which looks nice but my version wasn't stretchy enough), a standard but loose bind-off (which looks awful when not stretched out, but fine otherwise), and a few others.
The second one didn't spend several months as a UFO half way through either. ;)
The two cast offs I tried were pretty similar. I'd have to go back and examine each to see just how similar/different they are. The first had a way of effectively chaining between cast off stitches, and the second involved knitting through the back loop of two stitches ready to be cast off. Both look kind of ruffly when not stretched, but then the ribbing (as well as the last two repeats) are done with *larger* needles.
I thought about trying EZ's sewn bind-off, but was too lazy (or chicken to commit) to cutting the yarn before I bound off.
Thanks so much again, Jess, for the yarn!!!
Those look great!
My first pair of socks pales in comparison. Well done!
Very nice! How do they compare to your crochet socks?
Great socks! Yay for having finished them. :) Now what will you do?
Love the socks. Great color and great pattern. Congratulations!
Congratulations! I knew they would be a sucess! ;)
