Presenting Gimpy, The Lunchtime Sheep

Gimpy The Lunchtime Sheep
Gimpy The Lunchtime Sheep

Gimpy is a happy sheep who loves to frolic around. She doesn't let her weak leg slow her down!

I made Gimpy during lunch breaks to demonstrate how needle felting works to several colleagues. They were fascinated... and also made many comments about voodoo dolls. ;) One person came in when Gimpy was nearly done, and wanted to know why I was stabbing the poor sheep!

I had never heard of needle felting until yesterday. Must look into it.
The sheep is adorable.

Hugs to Gimpy! I love the picture with the Fall tree behind!
Did you knit and sew Gimpy first, and then came the felting, and last the fulling? Is it your own pattern?

Gimpy is made by needle-felting roving... no knitting or sewing involved. Basically you jab the loose roving with a barbed needle, and eventually it condenses down into a form. Legs, etc, are done separately with one end left soft, then the soft end is jabbed onto the body.

Oh... and I suppose technically this one is my own design, since I wasn't following someone else's instructions. (Like I did with Fuzz-Butt.)

I was completely wrong!!!! Thanks for the explanation Andrea... I tell you, I needed my Longman Dictionary of English to understand it... but I guess got it! Very interesting!
You should make a tutorial video for your fans like me! ;)
