That was the word from my mom this morning.
Update on the Disraeli Bridge: apparently the problem started when a 4m truck, travelling at a good clip, tried to go under the bridge which clearly stated it had 3.52m clearance. (Square peg, round hole anyone?) It managed to take out one or two of the bridge supports. For now, the truck is a bridge support.
The southbound lanes are closed to traffic, but they're hoping to get at least one lane open by Monday. For now, one lane of traffic is being rerouted over the Redwood Bridge (including several bus routes that normally go over the Disraeli), and another lane and one bus route is being rerouted over the Louise Bridge. I imagine the remaining 1-2 lanes are being rerouted down to the two rerouted lanes. ;)
Traffic should be interesting this morning... the Disraeli is the main route downtown for a big chunk of the city. Hopefully a bunch of people also decide to go north to take the Chief Peguis Bridge.
Another update when I make it to school... hopefully not too late. ;)
