This is my own little soapbox. Disclaimer: It is not written by someone you think you know, but by her evil twin. Absolutely nothing said here is true. Everything, including the last statement, is a complete work of fiction. This blog is completely boring, and includes entries on when I last washed my dishes, how many pairs of socks I've crocheted, and the occasional rant. These are not the droids you're looking for. Move along.

Enormous Bug
I don't think I've ever seen one of these suckers before. June bugs are enormous! They're even bigger than those "outdoor" NC roaches. Now *that's* big! Too bad there wasn't anything for scale.
Update from H: The June Bug we saw in the parking lot at university is a giant water beetle. G knew the correct name, and says that their main use is to scare the girls. :-)

Technically a giant water bug, not beetle. The giant water bug is not related to beetles, and is actually in a group of insects known as "true bugs", order Hemiptera. They are sometimes confused with giant diving beetles, which are large predatory water beetles that share similar habitat and diet with the water bug.
Thanks for the tip. :)
