A Change of Scenery: Minneapolis to Fargo

Day #3 wrap-up.

Minneapolis skyline:

Since dad got to go to two toy stores (Brownell's and Cabela's), we decided to see if one of my toy stores was open. After all, it wasn't far off the route, so we wouldn't lose much time if it was closed.

Which it was. *sigh* From the peek through the window, my credit card is thankful.

At one point, we hit a knot of traffic. It turns out the accident was on the other side of the road, but everyone was slowing down to rubberneck on our side. I wasn't able to get a good photo, since we sped up rather than rubbernecking ourselves.
Roadside Accident
It looked pretty bad. There was only one car involved from what I can tell, and I sure hope any passengers got out. Whatever colour the car had started, it was now "blackened metal."

You know you've been on the road too long when bug splats start to look pretty:

The problem with driving west is that you're driving off into the sunset:

Can you tell I like sunset photos?

I couldn't manage to pick just one.

It was *very* late when we got into Fargo.

Okay, so it was only around 11 pm, but *I* was exhausted! It turns out the AKC Dog show was in town, and there were pretty slim pickings when it came to hotel rooms. After three tries, we found an affordable non-smoking room with one bed, which we converted into two:

(Dad got the boxspring and used his sleeping bag.) there was only barely enough room for both side by side, and we squished the mattress under the air conditioning.

The bathroom was huge though:

...we seem to have ended up with a wheelchair accessible room. From the looks of things, handicap people don't need to blow their noses (no kleenex), but the hotel did take care that they won't bump their knees:

Hey, at least your handicap bathroom had a divider separating the shower from the toilet and a shower curtain to boot. The one in the hotel I was in in Atlanta for one night had no separation at all. Basically, the entire bathroom was the shower. At any rate, the entire bathroom got soaked when one took a shower. Not the best handicapped bathroom design I've ever seen!
