Well, I've been wearing my felted slippers for a while now, and here's what I think.
On the "pro" side, they're wonderfully warm. I can even machine wash them, because, while wearing them, they stretch out a bit... so the extra felting is not a problem.
On the "con" side, they don't have rubber bottoms. This means sometimes I slip when I get carried away, and, most importantly, they're useless for roach squishing.
Fall is the season when roaches try to sneak in from outside. I've been pretty lucky in not having many, but last night I had two. Yuck! Luckily I still have my old, ratty slippers in the closet, and they came to the rescue.
A fly swatter would work, but I like that slippers are with you at all times... since roaches rarely stay put while you go off to find a roach-killing device.
I hate roaches. :P

Too bad you can't have a cat. Mine is excellent at killing all kinds of bugs (which seem to increase in population in my apartment after it rains).
did you try putting leather bottoms on them? hmmm... might work for squishing bugs.
i hate roaches too :( luckily I mostly just get millipedes and spiders in this house.
Hmmm... good, solid leather bottoms might do the trick! I wonder where I can get cheap leather?
Of course, then they wouldn't be machine washable... unless I somehow manage to find cheap machine-washable leather. ;)
Do puppies eat bugs too? Of course, I won't have this problem when I move back north.
For my fuzzy feet slippers I bought some puffy fabric paint and did designs on the bottoms. It puffs up a bit and gives you some traction on slick surfaces. I put more on the heals and toes to help slow down the wearing out process of the felted wool too.
I've been meaning to add puffy paint (after I get a chance to buy some), but that still doesn't help with the roaches.
Actually, my old dog, Jake, was a great bug catcher. And mouse catcher. But my girls right now could care less, and the cat is by far one of the best I've seen.
