This is my own little soapbox. Disclaimer: It is not written by someone you think you know, but by her evil twin. Absolutely nothing said here is true. Everything, including the last statement, is a complete work of fiction. This blog is completely boring, and includes entries on when I last washed my dishes, how many pairs of socks I've crocheted, and the occasional rant. These are not the droids you're looking for. Move along.
Thank you :) I just have to tell that the charts are originally by the Norwegian designer pair, Arne & Carlos. It used to be free, the charts, but not found on line any more, sad to say :(
Yes, I tried looking for the pattern on Ravelry, and was sad to see that the charts were no longer available. :( I'm guessing "cheese attack" was a little too close to "space invaders" for copyright?
I don't think Space Invaders are copyrighted? My guess goes in another direction, it is too close to the very hot debate around Unn Søiland Dale and her Marius sweater from the 50ies - a debate looking very much like a particular British one ... Anyway, we don't know, and it is all just very sad.
I googled Space Invaders, and the wikipedia page talked about licencing that had been done, so there is some sort of copyright on Space Invaders. Looking at all the knitting patterns out there, though, I'm guessing they don't care. I think you're right about the source of the pattern being withdrawn. :( (If only we could all get along...)
I met the designers today (plain and honest brag!) and they said that they will upload it to their site, and make it available for everyone again. They are releasing a new book, where Arne is using the Cheese Attack sweater on the cover so they also thought they would get questions on this from others. So, nothing like a debate or anything, someone just forgot to ask them.d
