Dear President's Choice Blue Menu,

I buy your fish for two reasons:

1. I like eating fish.

2. I would like to continue eating fish in the future, and your fish has the sustainability logo on it.

However, I am single. Thus, when I buy your package of two fillets, I intend to eat each fillet at a different time. Eating two fillets at once is both too much food, and dramatically raises the cost of the meal.

My mother taught me that re-freezing fish is not safe food handling practice. Thus, when you package your fillets together in such a way that the two are solidly fused together in a single block of ice... well... I regret having purchased your product.

I suspect you chose your packaging because it reduces freezer-burn. (Unless you didn't want to buy equipment to flash-freeze the individual fillets?) However, I would rather risk a little freezer burn, and be able to choose my portion size. Please consider changing your packaging methods.

All the evil spammers have blogger IDs (why doesn't blogger have a "report spammer" option for blogger IDs or comments?), so I've turned anonymous comments back on, so that certain friends who wish to comment anonymously can do so.

I'm listening to Dispatches on CBC as I wash dishes. One of the dispatches was from Haiti. Sweatshop workers making t-shirts for Americans and Canadians are earning $11/week... and that's for a 60 hour work week. One lady they interviewed wouldn't be eating dinner that night, because she spent the last of her money on the bus ride home from work. The argument *against* raising the minimum wage to $5/*day*? That they wouldn't be profitable any more, and would have to close. Another country raised the minimum wage to $5/day, and lost hundreds of millions of jobs.

I want to know what the break-down is for the cost of the t-shirts we buy as consumers, and why it is that we can't pay Haitians (or other sweat-shop workers) enough that they can eat dinner... something that people wearing those t-shirts take for granted.

This is why I do my best to buy goods made in countries that have humane labour laws. It's not that I don't want my money to go to developing nations, but that I don't want to buy goods that don't even pay the workers enough to eat.

Sheesh. (Big business? Can you hear me? Helloooooo?)

Whoops... the Flickr monthly limit is now 100 MB, not 20 MB. Had I checked that earlier, that would have saved me an hour or two the other day. *sigh* (I was using Flickr Uploadr, and it was lying to me a bit about size limits... it didn't update the "you're trying to upload too much" indicator after the images were resized until I removed and re-added an image.)

(Freedback) Blogger still won't let me at the Dashboard, so I'm posting this by e-mail again. *sigh* I tried using the "contact us" link, but, after answering a bunch of questions, there wasn't a form to write a description and submit! I found a forum where some people are having the same problems, but I can't seem to post there either. Grrr. Hopefully they'll notice and fix things. (As evidenced by the last post, I can't use html tags when posting by e-mail, and I can't use post tags, or edit posts either.)

It turns out all my batteries are dead. Well... all the AAA ones are, so I can't turn on my new thermometer that I got for my birthday. *pout*

I'll be hooking up my new iPod speakers later today so that I can listen to podcasts while washing dishes. Hopefully the tech-gremlin that's haunting me right now will be gone by then. ;)

This week has been crazy in the help center. (Calm at the moment though... everyone is either in class, or already on spring break, I guess.)

I just discovered that the reason the forums haven't been crazy is that for some reason, I wasn't subscribed to half of them. Now I need to catch up!

I need more sleep.

My landlord had a plumber playing with my toilet because the plumbing had been leaking into the suite below (take that, Mr Party of One!)... and the toilet wasn't put back in the same place... leaving a large exposed nasty, grimy stain. Plus there's a significant gap between the floor and the toilet now.

I'm really tired.

I spent three hours this morning tutoring a particularly dense person. Sample of the conversation on my end:

Yayyyyyy!!!! it's 4:00 now!!! (I'm letting the current student stay until 4:05 so that he can add a few more comments to his code before the assignment submission shuts down.)

WTF?!?

For some reason, some mean, nasty robot thinks Swatchy's blog is a spam blog!? Wah! I've filled out the form requesting a review, but it says it may take two days to get it back. (The blog is still there, but I can't post to it.) I'm not a spammer. Do you think I'm a spammer? Do you think Swatchy is a spammer? Is this new? Are other people having this problem?

If this blog goes silent, it means that there's some blogger robot that is out to get me...

Oh... and another scary thing? If you didn't request the review in a week, they'd *delete* the blog!!! What if this happened while you were on a two week vacation? Or you just hadn't checked in in a while? (Some bloggers *are* sporadic, after all.) Would they be able to undelete it? (I suppose so, since google never throws anything out, from what I understand...)

WTF

1. I woke up early this morning to an incredible pain in my elbow. I was able to fall back asleep eventually, and it hurts considerably less now (I can actually use my right arm). I don't know if it was from spinning yesterday, or from sleeping in a strange position. (I did wake up shortly before and it had fallen asleep.) Is there such a thing as "spinner's elbow"? (I still want a spinning wheel, though.)

2. My friend who lost everything in the fire is being charged for her cable modem. Time Warner Cable is *evil*. EVIL, I say! I say she should scoop up a box of ashes and "return" it to TWC. (Assuming the site hasn't been bulldozed by now.)

3. Bloglines is being a pain in the tush, and not marking things as read. It's marking some things, but not others. (Aaaargh.) I've tried quitting and restarting my browser, but it hasn't helped. Update: The Plumber visited for a bit, and it works again. Yay!

Haloscan Hates My Browser

Yep, it hasn't been fixed yet... Haloscan still crashes my browser. (I thought I'd give it a try, thinking perhaps they might might have fixed the bug.) *sigh*

Bloglines is finally showing new posts from my friends on LiveJournal! Yay!!! (Hopefully this isn't a temporary glitch...)

...On an unrelated note, the page for writing blogger posts seems to have changed. There's a bunch of formatting stuff along the top, whether or not to allow comments at the bottom, and when I type the first few letters of a tag, I no longer get a choice of matching tags. (The first two are just observations, the third is annoying.)

Haloscan Hates My Browser

First at Sara's blog, now at Jewels' blog... leaving a comment using Haloscan crashes my browser (Safari). Sorry Haloscan users... but until it's fixed (and someone has kindly informed me), I won't be leaving comments at your blogs. :(

Feeling Dirty

Ugh... I just waded through over two thousand spam messages to find all the non-spam... of which there was well over a dozen messages, including one from a research colleague! I hope I found them all, because I told it to clear the spam folder. I've also set my calendar to remind me twice a month to check if there's non-spam in the spam folder. (It only keeps spam for a month, so anything older than that I can't check.)

My apologies if you sent me an e-mail and I didn't get back to you... either due to laziness on my part, or spam filtering on gmail's part.

It's been unsubscribing me again! I just noticed that I was no longer subscribed to Shelly's blog! *sigh*

Also, it's highly annoying that none of the LiveJournal feeds have been updating for quite a while now. *pout* (How am I supposed to keep up with my friends there?!?)

Update: It looks like it was Shelly changing her server that made me lose her feed... at least, I don't remember reading anything after she changed servers. So I guess that particular one isn't really Bloglines' fault. And the LiveJournal blog problems could be at LiveJournal's end... so I guess I should go easier on Bloglines.
