Does anyone know how to date a desk? I'd love to know how old this actually is, or any other history related to it. :)
And last, but not least, this remnant of paper glued on the underside of one of the shelves amuses me:
I wonder what sort of reference it was? What are the numbers? I love it! (It is staying!)

The dove tails are exquisite. An example of fine craftsmanship.
What is the secondary wood made of? Is it oxidzed at all? Are nails used or screws to make the desk? To bad the paper label was removed. That would have answered all your questions regarding age and where it was made.
You are doing a great job with the desk. It's a gorgeous piece and I'm green with envy.
I'll take some more photos when I'm over tonight, looking for screws, nails, etc. :)
The paper label isn't a shop label... I'm wondering if it's a logarithm table, or something else useful in pre-calculator days.
