I came to the realization that posting the answers to frequently asked questions like this makes one sound rather crabby. (Whether they are or not, I don't really know.) Would that be your impression too? (I'm trying to learn how to present myself better, and so insights like this help... but only if they're correct.)
Comment about the clock: when you're looking at the sign, it's actually to the left... and in the left hand corner of that window. It's small too, and so took me a while to find it. (Even though I remembered seeing it before, once I spotted it. It probably didn't help that I started looking in the wrong window.)

I agree it sounds a bit curt, but I'm sure that the store owners/managers/workers were fed up with having people milling around inside waiting for buses (makes it hard for loss prevention), interruptions asking for the time, and trying to explain to every non-customer that change is needed for the benefit of actual customers... Sometimes being blunt is the best way to simply get a message across - rather than explaining in detail, politely, why these rules are there. As for the clock - yeah, a little more thinking in terms of writer vs reader should have been done...
Oh, I totally feel for the owners... being a convenience store in Elmwood right beside a bus stop has got to have lots of shoplifters as bored hoodlums decide to entertain themselves.
You know, I think I saw the guy from the sign this morning at the stop. (The one who isn't allowed in the store... it looked just like him.)
