Crafting with dead umbrellas

Cool! Here's a tutorial for making bags out of dead umbrellas! I just happen to have some rather dead ones kicking around... I wonder if it would be possible to make a swift out of the struts and other pieces? (I already have a swift, but I know people who don't...)
