Wiki

Hey... I'm thinking of running a personal wiki on my mac to keep track of random stuff... instead of using random flat files that I forget about and lose. Just for little things like computer tips, random ideas, etc. I know there's various free wiki software, but I don't know *what* is out there, and which is nicest. Do you have any opinions? I know that once you start a wiki, it's nearly impossible to get your data to a different flavour of software. Thanks!

  5. the only wiki I've used for a lengthy period of time is one written in squeak (a version of smalltalk-80). They called it 'swiki' (Squeak wiki). I wouldn't recommend it for your purposes though...

  6. Check out www.lifehacker.org they're always talking about wiki's, I've only got the vaugest idea of what they are lol but this is a blog I subscribe to more for hubby than for me (it's mostly computer related stuff and he doesn't read blogs and such) but I've gotten lots of cool info since I subscribed. Might find the info you're looking for.

  8. If you're interested in a hosted wiki, like your blog, you might want to try Wikispaces

It's designed to be really easy to use and we'd love to get your feedback.

  9. Thanks Marvie, I'll check that site out when I get a chance.

Adam: I want to have a private Wiki on my own computer, rather than a public Wiki. But thanks for the pointer. :)
